Music

I am a multi- instrumentalist with vast experience in multiple styles and genres. Here are the Albums/experiments/demos by the different bands, performances, and groups that I've been a part of;

Ride The Sky

We are breaking new ground and taking off, riding the skies. From the ashes of Tens Only we are rising like a fiery Phoenix, dancing through the music, art and culture dipping our wings where we can. Under the same ideas of progressive musical tastes, styles, genres, instrument switching, as well as putting on shows as visual artists and collaborators

Destruction

Another Trilogy, About the human condition that leads us to destruction and the justifications that come with it. The Hell and devastation we see is a result of our own actions, inviting dictators to rise.

Including recurring characters like; Old Nick Switch/The Beast, Billy Hans, and The Warlord.

This is an unofficially released EP by Tens Only. Will be finished and officially released in 2017, that's why you can hear it but can't buy it.

The Incline- Ride The Sky

The Earth has been ravaged and ruined by the hands of humans. We have warred and eaten the resources so much that we can't sustain life as we know it, billions have died. Our only chance of survival is to take the rest of humanity on a relativistic voyage to the edge of our galaxy, 50 years on our ships while 500 years have passed on Earth. But now that we have left our world free for take-over, aliens have started their long journey to battle us for our hope.

This is a Demo to an Album that has been in the works since the beginning of the Tens Only Collective.

An experimental album mixed with real instruments and ambient noises. The protagonist of this space epic is the main flagship of our fleet, "The Vixen". The sounds are those of the inner workings of the ship, as it narrates what it sees and experiences through sound and documenting the humans reactions to their lives. The album begins with a lament for earth, then the Vixen in turned on and the engines start, from that point on the album is mechanical and synthetic. All the characters voices on the album are minor compared to the all seeing vixen.

Two songs are of the aliens ship,

Uncle Jerry Tailfeathers - Bass, BG Vocals, Guitar on "Winter"

Garlic Blossom is a Persian/Canadian progressive hybrid, influences from a wide variety of styles fused together to make a truly fluid, living, growing Garlic Blossom.
Half sung in Farsi and English. Every song has a twin sibling book-ending the album from the outside-in, ie. Mastaneh/Sor Khordan, Speech/Different Personality...
This album isn't officially released and is in the last few steps before release, i have included this to show work, I can't sell it until it's official.

Arash Roshani - Vocals, Lyrics
Saman Abdullahi - Guitars, BG Vox, Percussion
Kyle Green - Bass, BG Vox, Guitar, Drums on "Different Personality" and first half of "Speech".
Jared Tailfeathers - Drums, Percussion, Bass on "Different Personality" and First half of "Speech", BG Vox

The Tens Only Collective/ Bunker collaboration came from a place of necessity for Arash Roshani and Saman Abdullahi. Two talented musicians in need of a couple more, to help play the end of July Persian Cultural Tabestoon Festival 2016 in Calgary. They had a couple of months to find suitable musicians for their style, after an extensive search and many failed attempts, they sought help from their friend Sahar Te, who in turn contacted Kyle Green and I to see if we could help fill out their band on short notice.

We met and hit it off with them beautifully and practiced furiously over the next 8 weeks to prepare for the show. We played a mix of open jams and songs we wrote for a two set, two day show.

It was a marvelous experience, something that let the true spirit of my practice emerge, a cultural immersion and communication.

The shows went so well that we decided to write an EP together. Arash had to leave to finish his Doctorate down in California by mid September, we had two months to complete this, and every practice/recording session needed to be done quickly and efficiently without losing our open creative drive.

We wrote three songs together, did a traditional Persian cover, and after feeling like we had more to say than a 4 song EP, we decided to write four more songs to make it an even eight.

Three songs were written within the week before we recorded them and the Seventh song on the album "Different Personality" was written as it was recorded,in the last ten minutes of the last night that we could record with a full group before Arash left.

Saman, Kyle and I added the extra parts and finishing touches after Arash left. Him not knowing the final sound of the songs until we finished them.

Garlic Blossom - گُــلِ ســير

The Cazadores - Nae Danger

This is an album made up of half studio, half Live work by the band "The Cazadores" called "Nae Danger", a blues punk band that lasted four years before it fizzled out.

This album will never be officially released because a few of the members don't think it's good enough to see the light of day.

I disagree, though not perfect, it is good work that i am personally proud of, and i co-wrote a large part of it. But I can't sell it so this is the only form it will ever be in.

Jeff Johnston - Guitars, Vocals, Lyrics
Brian Bower - Guitars, BG Vox, Lyrics
Scooter Tailfeathers - Drums
Uncle Jerry Tailfeathers - Bass, BG Vox, Lyrics

The Daring Nomads

"The Real Life By Fire Light" album was made because i sold my instrument "The Waasii" to the Lodgepole Center at The Alberta College of art and Design.

<----------This is the unfinished Demo-

Part of the agreement that i made when i sold the instrument is that i would write a complete album made with the waasii as well as my other instruments.

So i needed to learn how to play the instrument first before i could put it in the world where no one else knows how to play the bastard. so I did all sorts of experimenting and convinced my friends from Ancient Highways (who i met first at Frog Fest 2015) to help me write and record the album.

The concept for the album was inspired by Frog Fest Alberta; a Folk/Psychedelic long weekend in the wet forest near Rocky Mountain House Alberta, where the Tens Only Collective first set up our Interactive Pavilion and people could make nonsense into music. The Album was put together in the same way, as a nomadic grouping of odd instruments and sounds made intuitively. So this album is exactly what you would hear from the Tens Only Nomad Pavilion.

The Concept is a group of people tripping and loving nature in the forest, over a single day.

The album is completely recorded with my instruments, the only conventional instruments used were a drum kit for the long song jams, a jaw harp and the Sitar.

This Album is Dedicated to The Lodgepole Center at ACAD and to my friends at Frog Fest for giving me the opportunity to first set up my installations and instruments.

Jared Tailfeathers- Recording, Engineering, Waasii, Prostrepolapsus, Anelectric Drum, Percussion, jaw Harp, sitar, Dancetruments.

Robert Strachan- Recording, Engineering, Waasii, the Street Bastard (it's the instrument he made at my instrument making workshop), percussion, Dancetrument.
